Office Moving Tips
When planning a business move, it's important to ask: What are the most critical aspects surrounding a business move?
For TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® the answer is: Whatever is important to you.
This could include completing the move within a certain time frame; minimising your downtime to limit the disruption to employees and your customers; completing the move within a certain budget; or anything else that might prevent your business from running smoothly.
Tips for a smooth move:
- Conduct a pre-move meeting with Office Managers and any other Department Managers involved.
- Identify any specialist equipment to be moved.
- Meet with your mover for a full project plan of the move.
- Put in place a move timetable, consider areas such as communication with the past and future landlord, frequency of communication to staff.
- Communicate with all departments involved with the move to ensure they know their roles and responsibilities prior to and during the move.
- Inform employees of when the move will be happening, giving as much notice as possible.
- Share as much information about the new office location with employees, including bus and train timetables, local cafeterias, parking, canteen facilities and any other features of the building.
- Provide floor plans and drawings.
- Limit employee participation on move day.
- Practice "good labelling".
